In today’s economy one thing is clear. We’re trying to do more with less. The Power of Less, as a book title, certainly begs all of the right questions. What can we do to reduce our expended resources? Waste? And how can we maximize our time in order to reach our pinnacle of individual and organizational effectiveness? This book reads quickly and provides the promised answers.

A quote from best-selling author Timothy Ferris (of 4-Hour Workweek fame) is a fitting start, and Babauta’s publisher (Hyperion) follows the book’s mantra. Wasting neither time, space, nor effectiveness Ferris’s glowing recommendation of Babauta as a “…powerhouse of online productivity…” has been placed directly on the book’s cover.

However, if The 4-Hour Workweek was a sweeping tale of the glam lifestyle of the “new rich”, with interwoven stories of Mr. Ferris’s life The Power of Less is the instruction manual. There is little fat left over after Babauta’s carving. He is certainly walking the walk during a 170 page tutorial on everything from creating goal systems and project lists to eating healthier and driving more carefully. The book may be just a tad dry, but it’s only because the author is an expert at wringing out excess water.
